Absence during school term
Absence during school term
Students are expected to attend school regularly and punctually to benefit fully from their learning and school experiences. Students who are unwell should not attend school. Parents/Guardians should inform the Form Teacher of their child’s absence and provide a doctor’s medical certificate (MC) or a parent’s letter*. MCs and letters may be submitted in hardcopy or through Parents Gateway. If a student falls ill in school, only the parent/guardian/caregiver may take the student home.
Regular attendance is important for students’ learning and development. Where absences occur due to truancy (e.g. willful absence from school) and other invalid reasons, the school will follow up with the student and parents/guardians to address the matter and support the student in returning to regular attendance.
Travelling overseas during school term is discouraged. Parents/Guardians who need to travel during term time should submit a request through Parents Gateway with the reason stated. If a student is absent, the Form Teacher may contact parents/guardians to check on his/her well-being. For frequent absences, the school will follow up with the family to understand the situation and provide necessary support.
*Parent letters are limited to five per semester, with each letter covering no more than two days. Absences beyond this limit may be recorded as invalid which may affect his/her conduct grade.
